Tom Engel, PE, LEED AP,
Principal, Project Engineer
I’m energized by tackling projects that incorporate the many facets of civil engineering. I love collaborating to see these projects through from concept through construction.
Tom grew up near St. Louis, Missouri and attended San Diego State University. He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado and California. Tom joined Goff in 2012 after working in southern California.
At Goff, Tom has worked on several of the firm’s water infrastructure and site design projects. He excels at designing school campus development projects, stormwater mitigation, floodplain studies, and water pipeline design. Tom’s most memorable project to date is the 2016 Bayfield Schools BEST Grant Project, in which his involvement spanned from conceptual analysis through final construction. This project involved many facets of civil engineering including pipeline design, roundabout grading, turn lanes, and pedestrian accessibility. His project management and collaboration skills allowed him to work alongside the design team (project architect, landscape, owner’s representative, and general contractor) to help fulfill the school district’s needs.
During his free time, Tom enjoys mountain biking all of the trails Durango offers, taking trips to the high country, and throwing the football with his son.
