Harry Goff, PE, PLS started Goff Engineering on April 15, 1977 in Durango, Colorado. Assisted by his family, Harry began working out of his home and then moved to a small office downtown. His first large project was for the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. He purchased Don Smith Surveying, began offering surveying services, and changed the firm’s name to Goff Engineering & Surveying Company. Bruce Honisch, PE, PLS joined Goff shortly after and continues to serve as a firm principal today. As the firm grew, so did the scope of the projects, which included work for Purgatory Ski Resort, Fort Lewis College, The Ranch, Durango West I and II, and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. In 1980, the firm was incorporated and our name changed to Goff Engineering & Surveying, Inc. This was the same year we purchased a plotter and transitioned from hand drafting to Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) becoming the first firm in Durango to do so.
Always trying to provide his clients with the best design solution, Harry began offering GPS surveying services after merging with Atlatl, Inc. in 1996. We continue to provide both GPS and conventional surveys utilizing the most recent surveying equipment.
Harry led Goff Engineering until his retirement in 1999. We are proud and honored to bear his name, and continue his commitment to quality designs and service, strong adherence to ethics within the surveying and engineering fields, mentoring young engineers and surveyors, and love of the Four Corners.
